612 new believers made public confessions of faith during a three-night crusade hosted by the Caribbean Coast District and the local network of churches in Monteria. Led by Pastor Gabriel Coavas, collective prayer and fasting preceded the event, preparing the 6,000 hearts who benefited by the Gospel presentation. Discipleship classes are currently underway enfolding new believers into local churches, while 5 more crusades are scheduled for this year.
“A new Foursquare Church has already been planted in the project’s first quarter,” shared Dan Lucero this week, who’s partnership with the National leadership team hosted evangelism and church planting training for 78 leaders from all over the Northern region of Côte d’Ivoire. Each training day included worship, instruction in God’s Word, followed by an afternoon outreach that enabled teams to practically implement what they just learned. As a result of training, over 210 decisions were reported, with 52 water baptisms and 82 HOLY SPIRIT Baptisms — Hallelujah!
“I was in prison and you came to me… “ 65 simple churches have been planted within the Nevada state prison system thanks to Foursquare Chaplain John Page and his leadership team who are providing weekly discipleship and counseling to over 4,000 detainees awaiting sentencing. Bibles, resources and regular visits include personal ministry, and God’s message of hope. Upon release, each inmate is connected to a local church ministry for further discipleship and job placement opportunities. Over 505 decisions have been recorded to date with 112 water baptisms and 64 Holy Spirit baptisms! … Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of my brethren, you did it to Me.” Matthew 25:39b, 40
516 New believers were reported through a creative business venture Foursquare Cambodia is providing to its local network of rural churches. In partnership with the Foursquare Foundation, quail incubators have been set-up in each church generating a consistent flow of income not only to each church and its members but also to local residents who come to learn quail-farming and receive a free set of breeders. 100’s of quail have been given away through this project led by Peter Ounchhayvara. Repeat visits by local famers translate into multiple opportunities to present the Gospel message and disciple new converts.
Six new Foursquare churches were launched in Romania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Bulgaria as each national leader was personally coached and equipped by project leader Mitko Dimitrov in friendship evangelism. Local talent highlighted two musical outreaches held in each country – the first led by Mitko and his traveling team, was followed by a second outreach led by each national leader and their newly trained teams. Over 273 leaders received training in effective discipleship and church planting, while 2 new cell groups sprang forth. 649 decisions for Christ have been reported thus far! Mitko Dimitrov is the Foursquare National Leader of Bulgaria and SE Regional Leader of Europe, his heartfelt motto remains: “Friends first, ministry second.”
The nation of Honduras understands the need to reach the next generation for Christ. Project leader Pastor Fanny Zelaya led over 200 church leaders from 30 Foursquare churches to be trained and equipped to reach the harvest of children and pre-teens in Honduras. The CADETS program guides young people to understand the love of the Father, the saving grace of Jesus, and the person of the Holy Spirit. 10,532 young souls made a decision to follow Jesus, 912 were baptized in water, and 153 received the baptism of the Holy Spirit through this project. Rejoice with us as God continues to bless the Foursquare Church around the world through your Foundation!
In partnership with Dave Veach and the Northwest District, Jim Romack used his proven model for outreach by mentoring 20 Foursquare pastors and equipping each to help their churches engage in community outreach. Dave took notice of Jim because he had effectually reached his own community by winning 20% to the Lord – all of whom now attend his church. Through this project, 40 outreaches were conducted in 23 towns and cities, while special events were held at schools, housing projects, libraries, and parks. Hundreds of volunteers and leaders from 18 Foursquare Churches shared the Love of Christ through acts of kindness, community service, and discipleship. Through this project 23 leaders were trained in effective community outreach resulting in 1,181 decisions for Christ, 356 water baptisms, and 226 Holy Spirit baptisms. Through the partnership of a great leader, his District Supervisor, and the Foursquare Foundation; we celebrate in praise to the Lord Jesus for his abundant grace over this ministry!
On July 1, 2010, the Foursquare Foundation launched a pilot test program of the new Ministry Leadership Grant process. The pilot was conducted for US projects only. We received a large variety of proposals for leadership development and awarded grants for 9 projects.
The original plan was that after the pilot the MLD grant process would be formally launched on January 1, 2011, and would be available for US and International Foursquare projects.
The Foundation board has recently concluded that it would be wise to evaluate the results of the pilot and potentially narrow the scope of the type of MLD projects. Therefore, the formal launch of the MLD grant process has been delayed and the US pilot will continue.
Only applications for US Foursquare pilot projects will be accepted for the Jan 1- Feb 15 application period. FMI is eligible to participate in the Pilot. The MLD application is available through the normal registration process online at www.foursquarefoundation.net.
Thank you for continuing to pray for us as we develop the Ministry Leadership Development grant process further.
